United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction Office for Northeast Asia and Global Education and Training Institute (UNISDR ONEA-GETI)

The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction Office for Northeast Asia and Global Education Training Institute for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR ONEA-GETI) was established in 2010 in Incheon with support from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety of the Government of the Republic of Korea and the Incheon Metropolitan City to develop a new cadre of professionals in disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation for disaster resilient societies.

UNISDR ONEA-GETI follows the mandate of UNISDR to serve as the focal point in the United Nations system to ensure coordination and synergies among disaster risk reduction activities of the United Nations system and regional organizations and activities in socio-economic and humanitarian fields (UN General Assembly resolution 56/195).

UNISDR ONEA-GETI supports and promotes effective and coherent implementation, follow-up and review of Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 among governments, city leaders, the private sector, universities, the science community, NGOs and other international organizations.
