UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon paid a visit to the UN ESCAP-ENEA Office on 19 May after opening the World Education Forum in Songdo, Republic of Korea. The UN ESCAP-ENEA Office on this day hosted a special event marking the UN’s 70th anniversary, which brought together staff from all UN offices and international organizations located in ROK, including the GCF and GGGI, and Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and his delegation from New York.

At the UN family event, Secretary-General Ban urged the staff from the UN offices and international organizations located in ROK to work harder to ensure that they successfully complete the Millennium Development Goals and pave the way for the new post-2015 sustainable development agenda. The oldest staff with longest years of service to the UN and the youngest staff working for a UN office in ROK presented the two gifts prepared for the Secretary-General to mark the 70th anniversary of the UN.

During his visit, Secretary-General Ban graciously signed the UN ESCAP-ENEA Office’s 5th anniversary poster, congratulating the Office for its achievements in connecting North-East Asia for inclusive and sustainable development.
